Physical Quantities and Measurements
Question No 02
Describe various branches of physics?
Answer:
Branches of physics
Branches of physics: The following are some of the branches of physics.
Mehcanics: The branch of physics which deal with the study of motion of objects ,its causes and its effects is called mechanics.
Example: falling off objects and spinning of objects.
2) Heat and Thermodynamics: The branch of physics in which we study about the heat , temperature and their relation to energy is called heat and Thermodynamics.
Examples: melting and freezing process.
3) Oscillations and waves: The branch of physics which deal with the study of oscillations(to and fro or back and forth motion) and wave is called oscillation and waves.
Example: water waves sound waves motion of spring.
4) Optics: The branch of Physics which deals with the study of light and its properties is called optics.
Example: Mirrors, lenses, eye etc
5) Electricity and Magnetism: The branch of Physics which deal with the study of charges at rest, charges in motion , effects of charges and its relationship with magnetism is called electricity and Magnetism.
Example: electrical charges circuitry magnets.
6) Atomic and nuclear physics: The branch of Physics in which we study about the structure and properties of atom and also the properties and behaviour of the particles present in the nuclei of an atom is called atomic and nuclear physics.
Example: X-rays ,MRI and CT scan etc.
7) Relativity: The branch Physics in which we study about the moving of objects including very high speed and gravitation is called relativity.
Example: free falling objects.
8) Cosmology and astrophysics: The branch of Physics which deals with the study of universe is called cosmology and also physics.
Example: study about stars Galaxies and black holes.
9) Biophysics or Medical Physics: the branch of Physics in which we study about the principles of Physics which are using in the biological phenomena is called Biophysics.
Example: MRI CT scans etc.
